West Ham target Welbeck could land new Arsenal deal

West United target Danny Welbeck may well be offered a new contract to remain with Arsenal, in what would be a dramatic turn of events.

The 28-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer and the England international looked to be heading for the exit door at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

However, according to the Mirror, Arsenal officials are considering offering Welbeck a new deal, with the forward making significant progress from a serious ankle injury in recent months.

The Hammers, along with fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United and Everton, are all thought to be monitoring Welbeck’s situation.

However, with Welbeck not guaranteed regular game time with the Gunners, the dynamic forward may well decide to move on in the summer regardless.

Arsenal may well attempt to persuade Welbeck to sign a new deal in the summer, however, the Gunners could also offer the Englishman a complex lower basic wage with playing bonuses due to his injury problems.

One thing is for sure, West Ham will continue to monitor Welbeck’s ongoing situation, and could attempt to lure the forward to the London Stadium in the summer in a similar way as they did with Jack Wilshere.
