Roma are eying West Ham target Dario Benedetto, according to sources in Italy.
The Hammers had been approached over a possible deal for the Boca Juniors striker, as reported in a TEAMtalk exclusive, with the club prepared to part ways with Javier Hernandez, Lucas Perez, Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic this summer, leaving them light on forward options.
The report claimed that the club would have to pay £20million to bring the prolific 28-year old to Europe, with the forward having only played in Mexico and Argentina during his career.
However, Calciomercato now claim that Serie A club Roma are ready to rival the Hammers, with Benedetto seen as a replacement for departing striker Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko had also been a West Ham target in the past, but speculation has cooled on Manuel Pellegrini signing his former Manchester City striker.
