West Ham have been linked to Gary Medel for some time now, and despite not succeeding in attempts to sign the midfielder in January, it is understood that the interest has not waned.
Turkish outlet Fotomac report (translated by Sport Witness) that the 31-year-old is likely to leave Besiktas at the end of the season, with the Hammers named as a possible destination for the Chilean international.
However, the Irons aren’t the only club interested in acquiring the services of Medel.
Belgian outfit Gent and former side Boca Juniors are also known to be keen on adding the ex-Cardiff City man to their ranks, who has blossomed in the latter years of his career.
A three year stint at Inter is still fresh in the memory, where the two-time Copa America winner would make himself known on the European stage.
West Ham are looking to bolster their midfield this summer, and a move for the veteran Medel would go a long way to achieving those aims.
Five more veteran midfielders West Ham could sign
Luka Milivojevic - Crystal Palace
The Serbian has been in top form for Palace this year, and the Hammers might want to see if they can tempt the 28-year-old to the east of the city.
Lars Bender - Bayer Leverkusen
Lars Bender has been a stalwart at Leverkusen for some time now, and is a versatile defensively minded player. He would be a superb addition for West Ham!
Jonas Martin - Strasbourg
The Frenchman has been a critical component of his side’s Ligue 1 campaign this season, and could provide that level of experience West Ham are hoping to add.
Lubomir Fejsa - Benfica
Another Serbian, the 30-year-old Fejsa may struggle to be involved in the Benfica first team as much he has been this season.
Dani Parejo - Valencia
If Valencia miss out on Europa League qualification, there’s every reason to believe Manuel Pellegrini could convince the Spaniard to come to these shores.
