West Ham have been given a boost in their attempts to sign long-term target, Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, with the forward’s days in Spain reportedly ‘numbered’, according to Spanish media outlet AS, cited by Sport Witness

The 22-year-old was linked with a move to the London Stadium in January, however, the two clubs failed to agree a fee for the Uruguayan and a potential deal never materialised.

Gomez has found the back of the net on 28 occasions for his current side since joining back in 2017 and his impressive performances have caught the eye of Hammers officials, along with a plethora of fellow European outfits.

And according to the report, Gomez’s days at Celta Vigo are ‘numbered’, with West Ham and Atletico Madrid now the front runners for the striker’s signature after reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona.

The dynamic forward currently has a release clause of €50 million, so if the Hammers meet that in the summer, Gomez would become Vigo’s record transfer sale.
