Pellegrini demands high performance levels against Man United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini says his players must look to perform like they did in the second half against Chelsea on Monday when they face Manchester United this weekend.

Despite losing 2-0 to the Blues in the Monday night game, the Hammers put in a strong second half performance at Stamford Bridge, and came close to finding an equaliser before Chelsea’s late second.

With another difficult game to come this weekend, when the Chilean coach will take his side to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, Pellegrini has demanded his players match the performance levels on display in the second half against the Blues.

As reported by West Ham’s official website, Pellegrini said:

When we play Manchester United we must try to repeat what we did in the second half against Chelsea. We played better than Chelsea in most of the second half but they had some chances at the end as we were attacking.

The only thing we need to do is work harder when we don’t have the ball. After that, when you have the ball you have to try to keep it.

I’ve reviewed the game and we defended well in the first 20 minutes before the beautiful goal from Hazard. We need to all work together and that’s what we will start with on Saturday.
