Alaves sporting director Sergio Fernandez has refuted claims that West Ham have been in contact over a deal to sign central defender Guillermo Maripan this summer.
According to Sport, via Sport Witness, Fernandez has said that West Ham have not made any offers for Maripan and have not been in contact with the Spanish club in any attempt to strike an agreement.
The report also claims that Alaves are looking for a fee in the region of €25m for Maripan, with Roma and West Ham both interested – although neither of those claims are backed up by Fernandez.
Maripan has been capped 13 times by Chile at international level and has been a regular at the heart of the Alaves defence this season.
The 24-year-old defender has scored twice in 22 La Liga appearances from centre-back this season and is now starting to attract interest due to his impressive performances.
