Hammers fearing Wilshere’s season is over

West Ham are fearful they have lost Jack Wilshere for the remainder of the 2018-19 season, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The midfielder has been trying to recover from a serious ankle injury that has rendered him unable to start a first team match since September, and it doesn’t look like things are about to get better any time soon.

After undergoing surgery to attempt to fix the problem, the rehabilitation process has not been an easy one for the former Arsenal man – who arrived at the London Stadium with a long history of struggling to stay fit.

Returning to action at the start of December against Newcastle, the 27-year-old managed just five minutes off the bench.

There is no indication yet as to whether or not Wilshere will require further surgery, but one thing seems to be obvious – Manuel Pellegrini cannot rely on the fitness of the play-maker.
