West Ham target Krzysztof Piatek is close to joining AC Milan during the January transfer window, according to InsideFutbol, via Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato.
The Hammers have reportedly made two bids for the Genoa striker, in an attempt to replace striker Marko Arnautovic, who looked set for a move to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
A move away from the London Stadium now appears to be off for the Austrain, though, with Guangzhou reportedly stepping down their attempts to sign Arnautovic.
That news will please Hammers fan, as AC Milan are the side are in pole position to land the Poland international as they too look to replace a striker linked with a move away.
Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently on loan with Milan from Juventus, has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea; sparking the the Rossoneri to pursue Piatek.
The forward has been in fine form so far this season, scoring 19 times in 21 appearances for Genoa, who are currently 14th in Serie A.
Genoa fans are unhappy with the decision to allow Piatek to move on, however, with Calcio Mercato reporting they were previously promised by club president Enrico Preziosi that the Polish forward would not be sold this season.
