West Ham ready to make improved offer for Medel

West Ham are preparing to submit an improved offer for Gary Medel of Besiktas.

The midfielder had been linked to the London Stadium, but Turkish outlet Takvim (translated by Sport Witness) claim the Irons are now ready to step up their pursuit of the 31-year-old.

With general consensus suggesting West Ham must add a central midfielder this January, the arrival of Medel could bring stability and experience to a rather injured unit.

Besiktas are reportedly hoping to receive somewhere between €8 million and €10 million in return for their man, and West Ham will surely be trying to snap Medel up for as cheaply as possible, following the summer’s shopping spree.

With Carlos Sanchez struggling with a long-term injury, and Jack Wilshere being Jack Wilshere, adding a new two-way threat in the middle of the park may be a wise move by Manuel Pellegrini.

If the tactician can convince his fellow countryman to make the move to the English capital, there could be little doubt his arrival would make West Ham stronger.
