Goals from Marko Arnautovic and Andy Carroll at either end of the game gave West Ham United a comfortable 2-0 win over Birmingham City in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday afternoon.
Arnautovic put the Hammers ahead after just two minutes at the London Stadium but had a touchline row with manager Manuel Pellegrini after bizarrely being taken off just 20 minutes in.
His replacement, Carroll, endured a frustrating game in front of goal with his feet but secured West Ham’s progress in the 91st minute with a fierce header past Lee Camp.
Another positive for the hosts was the debuting Samir Nasri, who looked mightily sharp during the hour he was on the pitch for, considering they were his first minutes since 2017 and could prove to be a fantastic piece of business.
West Ham will be relieved to get their first home win of the season, and here is how the players rated.
