West Ham set to keep Ogbonna despite interest from Italy

Angelo Ogbonna is expected to stay at West Ham United, despite interest from clubs in Italy according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 30-year old defender spent nine years playing in his home country of Italy, before making the switch to the Premier League, when he left Italian giants Juventus in 2015 and joined West Ham.

Ogbonna has been a mainstay in West Ham’s team in the last three years, but the ex-Torino man has spent most of this season on the bench, however, as of late, four starts in a row seems to have rejuvenated his Hammers career.

The recent confidence shown from Manuel Pellegrini in Ogbonna seems to have cut down the talk of the Italian moving back home.

Recent weeks have seen the likes of Bologna express interest, but no offer from a top club in Italy has looked like forcing Ogbonna to see out his fourth season in east London and remain at the club during this January transfer window.

matchday.
