West Ham interested in signing Sporting’s Tiago Djalo

West Ham United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Sporting defender Tiago Djalo.

It is understood that the 18-year old is at the centre of a contract dispute with his boyhood club, and after not playing for Lisbon’s U23 side since mid-December. Meanwhile, the Hammers are looking to take advantage and sweep away the young Portuguese star.

According to reports from the O Jogo, Djalo has been offered a deal at Lisbon until 2023, but the appeal of the Premier League is looking tough to turn down for the centre-half.

West Ham have been hit with several injuries all over the pitch this season, thus forcing Manuel Pellegrini into the transfer market this January.

Also, with Reece Oxford actively exploring options away from the London Stadium, and with Angelo Ogbonna still wanted in Italy, Djalo could be a necessary addition to help Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena at the back.

matchday.
