No bids for Almiron despite Premier League interest
There has been no official bid for Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron, despite intense interest from West Ham.
Despite a number of clubs said to be monitoring Almiron, Newcastle are said to have the edge.
Almiron’s father is quoted by ABC (translated by Sport Witness) as saying:
Definitely he goes to England, what remains to be defined is the club, but Newcastle is the one that takes advantage,
The 24-year-old is still basking in the sun of his MLS Cup win with Atlanta on Saturday, but Premier League infatuation has been noted for a while.
Another report from Sport Witness claims that whilst several English teams have sought additional information on the Paraguayan, Atlanta are yet to receive an offer.
Making 38 appearances in Atlanta’s victorious campaign, Almiron scored 13 goals and recorded 13 assists.
The attacking midfielder (who can also be deployed as a forward) would be an intriguing signing for the East Londoners.
