Andy Carroll desperate to sign new West Ham deal

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll is desperate to sign a new deal at the club despite his persistent injury problems, according to a report on Talksport.

The 29-year-old made another appearance from the bench as the Hammers held on to secure a 3-2 win over London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Carroll’s current deal with the Hammers expires at the end of the season but he wants the club to give him a new deal because of the threat that he gives them in attack.

The Englishman said:

It’s important for me to get back playing, get back fully fit and show that I deserve another deal here.

Be great if I can get it. If not, then we’ll see what happens. But at the minute I am focused on staying here and that’s where my head is at.

I feel I don’t have to score to make an impact. I’ve always said that. I think dragging defenders away and creating space for others to get in position – that’s something I do a lot. I think even if I don’t get on the scoresheet or assist I cause problems.

With Marko Arnautovic ruled out until the end of the year, Carroll could see himself getting more game time than expected in the following few matches.

The former Liverpool man has had very bad luck with injuries but is feeling fit and healthy and believes he can show why he is valuable to the team.
