Pablo Zabaleta hints at Hammers exit

West Ham full-back Pablo Zabaleta has revealed that he is considering leaving The Hammers for a move to the Middle East at the end of the season, HITC report.

The 33-year-old, who is reportedly earning £75,000 a week at the London Stadium, is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

And with the arrival of former Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks in the summer, many believe that the Argentine, who has made eight appearances this season, could call it a day in the Premier League in May.

West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini played for Al Jazira Club in the United Arab Emirates prior to moving to England and Zabaleta revealed recently that he has spoken to Lanzini over his experience in the Middle East.

Talking to Arab News, the former Manchester City defender said:

My heart tells me I would like to play forever, but I will be 34 in January and I need to listen to my body at that time.

At the end I will know what I want to do and where to go, but I would like one or two more years to carry on playing. At 34 I think it might be the right time to try something different, have a new experience.

I spoke to Manu about his experience and he said it was great. But the difference was he was only 21, then wanted to go to Europe and test himself further.

He said the lifestyle was fantastic, you train late in the evenings because of the conditions. After England, this is what I’m looking for.

The experienced defender looks set to be involved in the matchday squad for West Ham’s fixture with Burnley on Saturday afternoon, however, Zabaleta’s time in England may be reaching its conclusion.
