Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that West Ham are approaching the Carabao Cup seriously as they gear up to face Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The Hammers will be out to spring a surprise against their London counterparts this week as they welcome them to their home stadium for the second time in just 11 days.
West Ham faced Tottenham in the Premier League only recently but were unable to contain Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who came away with a narrow 1-0 victory.
Pellegrini, as quoted by Sky Sports, has been speaking ahead of the clash against Spurs on Wednesday.

The Chilean boss was quizzed on whether or not his side are taking the Carabao Cup seriously, with the Premier League still likely to be a priority for the club this season.
Pellegrini was certain that the Hammers are taking the competition “very seriously”, however. Speaking ahead of the fourth round clash, the manager said:
As I have said previously, the Carabao Cup is a major competition that we take very seriously. We have been on the training pitch since Sunday preparing our work and focusing on what we need to do to come out on top.
I’m very proud of the way the team is playing at the moment, the way we are thinking as a big team, and the mentality of the players to try to win every match.
