Yarmolenko has successful surgery on Achilles injury

West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko will miss around six months of action after undergoing successful surgery on an Achilles injury, the club have confirmed on their official website.

The Ukraine international was stretchered off in West Ham’s 1-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, prompting fears that he will miss a large chunk of action this season.

These fears have been proven correct, unfortunately for West Ham, with their summer recruit now facing an extended spell on the sidelines.

Richard Collinge, who heads up West Ham’s medical department, delivered an update on the condition of Yarmolenko following his successful operation.

Andriy’s operation went well and we will now work hard to support him throughout the rehabilitation process. His recovery will be planned very carefully and we have every confidence that he will return to full fitness within the scheduled timeframe.

The winger will be hoping to bounce back to provide the Hammers with another attacking option in the second half of the Premier League season.
