Makasi targeting place in Pellegrini’s plans
West Ham youngster Moses Makasi has told the Evening Standard that he is keen to break into the first-team picture at the club.
The promising midfielder has bounced back from a long-term knee injury and is back in action for West Ham’s Under-23 side as he continues his rehabilitation from the problem.
Makasi, who is now close to full fitness after being sidelined for six months, senses an opportunity to push on with his development and force his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans for the season ahead.
West Ham’s midfield options are not currently all available to Pellegrini, with Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez still facing spells away from the first-team.
Makasi admitted that a loan move away in January could be beneficial for his progress, following his successful temporary stay at Plymouth last season, but was quick to highlight his willingness to remain at West Ham.
My aim at first is just getting more minutes in but then after that to see where I can go for the first team. If that doesn’t work out then hopefully I’ll go on a loan move, I did well with Plymouth last season so I’ll be looking to push on from last season.
First I’d like to see what happens here, at my own club. Training has been very good. Working with the manager and seeing experienced players in front of us and if they need any players to come across and train you’re there and can see other players.
