Wilshere heaps praise on Arnautovic
West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere has been lavishing praise on his teammate Marko Arnautovic.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, the Hammers midfielder was quizzed on just what it is like to play alongside Arnautovic, who has enjoyed a strong start to his second season at the London Stadium.
Arnautovic has already established himself as a vital cog in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans at the club. The Austrian international has been deployed in a striking role, with the club’s new pool of creative options operating behind him.
Wilshere expressed his admiration and appreciation of Arnautovic’s qualities, claiming that he is among the most gifted footballers he has played with.
Arnautovic is some player. I’ve played with some strikers, great players. He is up there. He is right up there. Ability-wise, he’s powerful, got so much in his game.
His attitude is brilliant. He’s a good character and is one of the leaders in the team as well. Before I went to West Ham I didn’t know with him, but he’s been great from day one. He welcomed me in. He gives me a bit of stick but I can handle it.
Former Arsenal star Wilshere has not made a similarly impressive start to the new season, however. He struggled to influence proceedings in his opening outings for West Ham and is now working his way back from yet another injury.
West Ham boss Pellegrini will be hoping to have Wilshere back and available in the near future, despite the impressive displays his midfield have been turning in recently.
