Despite being out of contract in the summer, experienced right back Pablo Zabaleta looks set to remain with the Hammers, with the club wanting the Argentinian to remain at the London Stadium, football.london report.
The 33-year-old, who joined the club last summer, has been a regular under three different managers for the club and has impressed in recent weeks with solid defensive performances against Chelsea and Manchester United.
With Zabaleta’s contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, many believed that the veteran could be shown the door, considering manager Manuel Pellegrini, who worked with Zabaleta at Manchester City, brought in Ryan Fredericks from Fulham in the summer.
However, according to reports, the full back will earn an automatic one year extension to his deal anyway should he make 25 appearances in the Premier League this season.
Even if the right back doesn’t reach that amount, it is likely the club will offer the experienced defender a new short term deal.
