West Ham defender Fabian Balbuena has heaped praise on the club’s supporters following the recent 3-1 win against Manchester United.
Speaking to the Hammers’ official club website after the win against the Red Devils, the Paraguayan international was quick to hail the influence of the home support, lauding the fans as ‘awesome’.
Always, as in every game we play at home, our fans are awesome and it is a great boost for us when we play at home. We have to give back that love and support on the pitch with good results.
Balbuena has been a key player for West Ham following his arrival in the summer. He has formed a strong partnership next to fellow new recruit Issa Diop and has been instrumental, with the Hammers hitting some form in recent weeks.
The defender turned in yet another resolute display in the heart of the defence on Saturday as he played his part in keeping Manchester United’s attacking quality at bay throughout.
I think the team did things well, had a lot of attitude, and a lot of temperament playing at home with our people and we got a very good result against a great team.
Balbuena will be hoping to continue in a similar vein of form when West Ham come up against Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night in the Premier League.
