Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has hailed Marko Anautovic’s centre-forward performance during West Ham’s 3-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park, according to a report on the official club website.
The former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United striker was keeping a close eye on Arnautovic and loved what he saw from the Austrian.
Arnautovic tends to enjoy playing on the left wing but towards the end of last season, he was played in a central role and he has thrived in the position ever since.
He seems to enjoy playing up front as he gets to run in behind as well as get the ball to feet and link up with his midfielders.
All-time Premier League top scorer Shearer said:
It was a real centre-forward’s performance [from Arnautovic].
He scored a very good goal and provided an assist when his team needed it most. He led the line with such authority.
Arnautovic hobbled off the pitch just after the hour mark with a knee problem but the Hammers are hoping that he will be fit in time for the visit of Chelsea on Sunday.
