Xande Silva keen to earn an opportunity in West Ham’s first-team
Xande Silva is determined to stake his claim for a place in the West Ham first-team this season.
The youngster has been in impressive form for the Hammers’ Under-23 side since his arrival at the start of August and has recently been discussing his ambitions for the season ahead.
Silva was snapped up by West Ham during the summer transfer window as they fended off a whole host of competition to secure the signature of the promising attacker from Vitoria de Guimaraes.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Silva spoke of his confidence following a strong start to life in London and was quick to outline his intention to catch the eye of first-team manager Manuel Pellegrini.
I’m really confident at the moment. I’m working hard for the team and I’ve managed to score a few goals from that. I want to continue with the good performances and hopefully get myself in the eye of the manager and the first team.
The 21-year-old, who has been a key figure in his native Portugal’s youth teams in previous years, is clearly hoping that he can continue his recent eye-catching form to ensure that this season is his breakthrough on the senior stage.
