Jack Wilshere has sustained an injury to his ankle in training and will need a scan to determine the damage next week.

The midfielder will be unavailable for selection as West Ham travel to Everton on Sunday, looking to get their first point of the Premier League season.

The Telegraph claim a source at the club revealed to them:

It could be one week, it could be three months.

After the worst start to a season in the Hammers’ 123-year history, boss Manuel Pellegrini would have been eager to avoid any major injury concerns as he looks to steady the ship – no such luck.

With other attacking midfield option Manuel Lanzini out for the season after a knee injury suffered on international duty with Argentina, Wilshere had been shouldering much of the burden in the CAM department for the Irons.

Robert Snodgrass and new signing Felipe Anderson may have to move inside to cover for the loss of Wilshere, who Hammers fans will be hoping is back before long.

Would you be happy to see Snodgrass start in Wilshere's place?
