West Ham failed in a late move to beat Fulham to the signing of midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
According to the London Evening Standard, the Hammers had been hoping to beat the Premier League new boys to his signature, but he opted for Craven Cottage in the final hours of the transfer window.
Anguissa’s move to Fulham was one of the biggest deals on transfer deadline day, with Slavisa Jokanovic’s men sealing a £30 million deal for the player.
The midfielder is highly-rated back in France is expected to now form a key part of Fulham’s midfield, alongside Jean-Michael Seri.
West Ham themselves were very busy on the final day of the transfer window, signing Lucas Perez and Carlos Sanchez from Arsenal and Fiorentina respectively.
The arrivals of the aforementioned Sanchez and Jack Wilshere, who also joined from Arsenal earlier in the window mean that Manuel Pellegrini has added depth to his midfield options this season.
