West Ham turn down chance to sign Fernando Llorente
West Ham have turned down the chance to sign Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente, as Arsenal’s Lucas Perez joins the club.
According to Darren Lewis on the Mirror, the Hammers were offered the chance to sign the Spanish striker, who is viewed as a back-up the Harry Kane at Spurs.
Perez has been a target for the Hammers late on in the window as they look to reinforce their attacking options in the final third.
West Ham have seen off competition from Portuguese side Sporting for a deal to sign Perez, who failed to fulfil his potential at Arsenal.
Llorente was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this year, with former Blues boss Antonio Conte very keen to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard once again appears set for a rotational role at Spurs this season, with Kane the main man to lead the line for West Ham’s London rivals.
