Despite having only been at Celta Vigo for one season, Maxi Gomez could be on his way out at the La Liga following reports in Mundo Deportivo that West Ham are prepared to trigger the 21-year-old’s release clause.
Sitting at €50 million however, the move would not be a cheap one for the East Londoners, in a window that has already seen the Irons fork out over £80 million in transfer fees.

Gomez was a sensation in his debut season in Spain, scoring 18 goals in 36 appearances. The forward showed enough guile to warrant a spot in Uruguay’s 23-man World Cup squad, appearing in the final 30 minutes of his nation’s quarter-final match against France.
Gomez would join other attacking additions Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko at the London Stadium, as part of a new look West Ham under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The switch may bring into question forward Marko Arnautovic’s role for the new season, despite the Austrian’s pivotal performances down the stretch of the 2017-18 campaign.
