West Ham have reportedly lodged a €30 million offer for Uruguayan international Maxi Gomez.
According to Football Espana, who cite reports in Spain, the Hammers have stepped up their interest in the Celta Vigo forward.
The 21-year-old impressed last season and his performances have not gone unnoticed, as interest mounts in his services.
The report claims that Chinese side Beijing Guoan had a bid for the player turned down in the January transfer window.
Gomez found the back of the net 17 times for Celta last season in 35 starts.
Gomez does have a €40 million release clause in his contract, according to the report, so the Hammers may need to stump up the extra cash.
West Ham have been in the market for a striker and have also been linked with Moussa Marega from Porto.
Under David Moyes, the Hammers relied far too heavily on Marko Arnautovic for goals, something Manuel Pellegrini is looking to change.
