Burnley remain in talks for Mawson as West Ham consider move

Burnley have held further discussions with Swansea over a possible move to sign Alfie Mawson, with West Ham still in the running.

Wales Online reports that two clubs remain in talks, with the English defender likely to move on this summer.

The defender has reportedly made the Welsh side aware that he wants to leave in order to play Premier League football this season.

Swansea are demanding £20 million for the defender, who impressed last season, despite the club’s relegation to the second tier.

West Ham had been linked with a double swoop for both Mawson and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, but only the Polish goalkeeper has joined the club so far this season.

The Hammers remain keen on a deal, despite Manuel Pellegrini already signing Issa Diop and Fabián Balbuena since taking charge of the club.

Burnley could offer the defender European football, with Sean Dyche’s men kicking off their Europa League campaign against Aberdeen tonight.
