West Ham are interested in signing Independiente winger Martin Benitez, according to reports in Argentina, as cited by ESPN.
The 24-year-old, who can play on either flank or as a central attacker, is said to be one of the names on West Ham’s shortlist of potential new signings.
Benitez scored eight goals and had a further three assists in 28 games for Independiente last season and it looks like his performances caught the eye of West Ham’s South American scouts.

West Ham have already looked to make significant improvements to their squad as they look to get Manuel Pellegrini’s reign off to a successful start but it looks like they’re not quite finished spending money just yet.
Benitez, a former Argentinian U17 player, would add yet another attacking option to a squad that seems to be brimming with confidence as we head towards a new season.
