West Ham have reportedly seen a bid worth £18 million rejected by Lyon for their experienced central defender Marcelo.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to the London Stadium in recent weeks and according to a report from the Daily Mail, the Hammers have seen their opening offer for the player turned down.
West Ham are well-stocked with central defensive options following the signings of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena this summer, but following the long-term injury sustained by Winston Reid, it’s claimed that the club are chasing another centre-back.

The Daily Mail claim that Lyon, who only secured the signing of Marcelo last summer, are willing to sell the player but only if an offer in excess of £20 million is put on the table.
Marcelo, who is now 31-years-old, enjoyed a strong season with Lyon and appears to be one of several players who are being considered by the Hammers this summer.
