West Ham linked with a move for Duvan Zapata
West Ham and Southampton have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Colombia international Duvan Zapata.
The striker, who plies his trade in Italy with Sampdoria, has been heavily tipped for a summer move and it seems interest is building ahead of next season.
Zapata enjoyed a considerably impressive season for Sampdoria. He found the net on 11 occasions and also contributed with four assists. However, his efforts were not enough to land him a place in Colombia’s 23-man squad for the World Cup.
West Ham are out to reinforce their striking options this summer and Zapata is the latest name to be linked by Italian outlet GazzaMercato, with Manuel Pellegrini getting his feet under the table at the London Stadium.
However, it seems the Hammers will not be without competition in their apparent pursuit of Zapata.
The report from GazzaMercato indicates that Premeir League rivals Southampton are also in the chase. Serie A side Atalanta are also touted as a potential destination, whilst Villarreal, too, are claimed to be keen on the player.
