West Ham make £1.2m offer for Derby County’s Luke Thomas
West Ham have reportedly made a £1.2m offer for Derby County’s young player of the year Luke Thomas.
Gloucestershire Live report that his previous club, Cheltenham Town, will receive 15% of the agreed transfer fee.
The 19-year-old stepped up two division’s when moving to Pride Park in January 2016, and has so far made just two substitute appearances for the Rams’ first-team.
Thomas broke into the Cheltenham first team at the age of 16 and made 17 Premier League 2 appearances for Derby this campaign, scoring six times.
He has also spent time on loan at Gloucester City, where he played well in the National League North.
Derby are now looking for a new manager after it was announced yesterday that Gary Rowett was moving to newly-relegated Stoke City.
Thomas could become new West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini’s first signing at the London Stadium, after he signed a three year deal to become the club’s highest paid manager ever.
If Thomas does come in, he’s likely to go into the West Ham youth set up, rather than straight to the first team.
