West Ham have reportedly made a £12m offer to sign Joao Mario on a permanent deal, but it has been promptly rejected by Inter Milan.
The Hammers have obviously been impressed with what they’ve seen from the Portuguese international midfielder during his loan spell at the London Stadium as they’ve decided to make a bid.
However, the £12m has been deemed nowhere near enough for the 2016 European Championship winner and if West Ham want to keep him permanently, they’ll need to do stump up more cash.
The Hammers could be waiting to see if they’re playing Premier League football next season before making a higher offer, although it’s unlikely that Mario would be willing to be play Championship football, so that might be a moot point anyway.
If Mario continues to impress, and help the Hammers stay up, the club are likely to increase their offer to keep him permanently.
