West Ham join Dortmund and Liverpool in Akanji chase
West Ham have struggled with defensive injuries this season and David Moyes has reportedly targeted a move for one of Europe’s finest young centre-backs.

It’s believed that West Ham are ready to make a move to sign FC Basel defender Manuel Akanji following an impressive 2017, but they do face competition from both Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
The 22-year-old broke into the Switzerland international side in the summer and has earned rave reviews in his home country, prompting some of Europe’s biggest clubs to make checks on him.
Basel allegedly value the young centre-back at €30m, but the report claims that West Ham are only prepared to offer €18m at the moment to secure his signature.
It’s understood that Basel would prefer to wait until the summer to cash-in on their prized asset when presumably, his asking price will be slightly lower, but forcing through a move during the January transfer window has seen a premium put on Akanji’s head.
Borussia Dortmund are the player’s preferred destination and the Bundesliga side are said to be hoping a deal can be reached for €20m, but given the mounting interest in his signature, Basel are holding out for nearer their asking price.
