Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have slammed the performance of summer signing Marko Arnautovic against Brighton.
Speaking after the game, as reported by the Mirror, Carragher claimed it was the type of performance that could see Slaven Bilic lose his job.
That’s the kind of performance that gets the manager sacked. I was very critical of Arnautovic during the game, he was a huge money signing. It can be difficult to settle and show your true form at a new club but that performance was not one you think was desperate to show everyone what he can do.
The Austrian winger was booed off by the home fans as he substituted with just over 15 minutes left to play in the game.
Neville believes that Arnautovic thinks he’s a better player than he actually is.
That guy [Arnautovic] is Ronaldo in his own mind. That’s the problem, he thinks he is better than he is.
It was an evening to forget for all involved at the London Stadium, with the Premier League new boys finishing as comfortable winners thanks to goals from Glenn Murray and Jose Izquierdo.
The defeat leaves West Ham two points above the drop zone prior to Saturday’s Premier League fixtures.
Bilic will now see yet more rumours about his future circulate with the Croatian under a growing amount of pressure at the London Stadium.
