West Ham have been trying to get a deal for William Carvalho over the line for weeks now and are no closer to getting it done with just over two days left of the transfer window.
Sporting are standing firm on their £40m valuation of their star defensive midfielder but so far, the Hammers have only offered up to £35m to bring in the Portugal international to the Premier League.
The longer West Ham dither over the fee with Sporting the more likely it is that another club will pip them to Carvalho’s signature and that may just happen before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The Mirror report that Monaco are now interested in Carvalho this week with Fabinho set to join Ligue 1 rivals PSG before the window shuts.
Monaco would have no problems meeting the £40m asking price and one would think that Carvalho would prefer to join the reigning Ligue 1 champions over the Hammers who are currently bottom in the Premier League.
While West Ham and Sporting are in a stand off over the fee, the Portuguese club could deal the player to another club.
