West Ham are frantically trying to secure a defensive midfielder before the transfer window shuts next week but one reported target can be ruled out.
Twitter: Told there’s nothing in these Didier N’Dong to West Ham reports. Expect Sunderland to hold on to their record signing unless others come in. (@SkySports_Keith)
According to Keith Downie of Sky Sports, there’s no substance to reports linking the Hammers with a move for Sunderland’s £18m record signing Didier Ndong this month.
23-year-old Ndong arrived from Lorient last summer but struggled to adjust to the Premier League during his debut season. Still held in high regard in the north-east, Ndong is not available for transfer.
West Ham’s priority remains striking a deal with Sporting for William Carvalho but will need to pay up to £37.5m to land the Portugal international who is now also wanted by Chelsea. Benfica’s Ljubomir Fejsa is also a target.
