West Ham’s move to sign William Carvalho from Sporting is stalling and is now at risk of not happening at all as a fellow Premier League side are looking to sign him.
Eager to make a big splash or two before next week’s transfer deadline, Chelsea are now considering a move for Carvalho who seems intent on leaving the Liga NOS this summer for the Premier League.
The Hammers have been locked in talks with Sporting to sign Carvalho for a couple of weeks now and are believed to be edging closer to an agreement, but it’s not quite there yet as the Portuguese side keep increasing their asking price and the terms of the transfer.
Carvalho himself has agreed personal terms with West Ham, had informed Sporting that he wants to complete a move and hasn’t been involved in the club;s Champions League qualification clashes as a result, but at the moment the deal is stalling.
Valued at £36m, Carvalho is now reportedly wanted by Chelsea as well as they look to bolster their midfield options before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Whether their interest is genuine or being leaked to drive up the price for Carvalho remains to be seen, but the Hammers are running out of time to get this deal over the line.
