West Ham are planning one big splash before the transfer window shuts at the end of August and, as expected, some players may have to make way to accommodate them.

With a deal to sign William Carvalho progressing nicely, the Hammers have made holding midfielder Pedro Obiang, the man Carvalho is likely to replace in the side, available for transfer this month, say the Sunday Times.
Obiang was one of the contenders for Hammer of the Year last season prior to suffering a season-ending ankle injury against Leicester and was rewarded with a new five-year contract earlier this summer.

The Hammers plan on bringing in Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon next week in a club-record deal and want him to partner Cheikhou Kouyate in midfield, making Obiang the odd man out.
While he may want to play every week and the only chance of him guaranteeing that is moving on elsewhere, it’s hard to believe that Slaven Bilic would want to sell a player that was one of his best performers last season and just committed his future to the club.
There has been interest from Serie A in the former Sampdoria midfielder over the last 12 months so if this report is true, don’t be surprised to see those links come up again.
