West Ham are submitting bids for pretty much every top striker in Europe with the hope that they can persuade one of them to make the move to the London Stadium this summer.
One of those strikers is Cedric Bakambu who has emerged as one of the top forwards in La Liga following his £6.4m move from Bursaspor to Villarreal two years ago.
The 26-year-old was subject to a club-record £22m bid from West Ham earlier this summer but the offer was turned down by Villarreal.
Newcastle are also looking to sign the DR Congo international and the Mirror are reporting that they are willing to break their 12-year transfer record in order to sign Bakambu.
Bakambu has scored 33 goals and provided six assists in 84 appearances for Villarreal over the last two seasons, including 11 goals in 34 games during the last campaign.
The likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Anthony Modeste and Javier Hernandez are all on West Ham’s radar this summer but they are still no closer to bringing in a striker.
