Dean Smith keen to extend contract of West Ham target Jota

West Ham United have shown interest in signing Brentford star Jota in recent weeks but the Championship club’s manager hopes to put an end to all speculation by offering the Spaniard a new contract at the club, according to a report on HITC.

The Brentford man has been linked with various Premier League clubs according to reports on Get West London but the club want to keep hold of Jota for next season.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who can play on the left or the right-hand side, made 22 appearances for Brentford in all competitions last season and got his name on the scoresheet 12 times.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is looking to add more to his attacking department and Jota is certainly a target as he can find the net as well as assist teammates.

The silky midfielder returned to Brentford from his loan spell at Eibar in December, so to take his tally to 12 goals in just half a season is really impressive. Jota also added five assists and his sensational form led to West Ham showing their interest.

Everton have also been monitoring the Spaniard in recent weeks but Dean Smith is confident that he can hang on to the player.
