West Ham readying £10m bid for Chris Smalling
West Ham appear to be stepping up their interest in Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, with a £10 million bid being readied.
Just days after it was reported that West Ham have joined the race to sign the defender this summer, the Daily Star claim the Hammers are preparing a bid.
Manchester United value the England international at around £15 million, with West Ham’s bid looking set to fall short.
Smalling is not short of interest this summer, with West Brom and Everton both potential destinations for the defender.
The Manchester United defender endured a tough season under Jose Mourinho, despite a standout campaign under Louis van Gaal the previous season.
Mourinho himself has largely preferred to Eric Bailly, casting doubts over Smalling’s long-term future at Old Trafford.
West Ham are set for a busy summer as they look to strengthen their squad after what was largely considered as a disappointing season.
