West Ham once again linked with Oguzhan Ozyakup

It seems West Ham cannot get away from being linked with a move for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.

The Hammers were said to be very interested in the Turk 12 months ago but no move materialised.

Obvious ties between Slaven Bilic and one of his former players are present but who knows if there’s anything substantial beyond that.

Either way, West Ham are said to be interested in signing him, as are Tottenham and former club Arsenal, according to Turkish-Football.

The 24-year-old spent four years on the books at Arsenal between 2008 and 2012 prior to joining Besiktas in a £425,000 deal and has become a regular in the national side and helped Besiktas claim three Super Lig crowns over the last five years.

Ozyakup scored five goals and provided nine assists from central midfield last season for Besiktas and has just one year left to run on his current contract, but it’s believed that the Turkish outfit have offered him a lucrative five-year extension until 2022.

Besiktas value him at £13m and would consider offers in that ballpark.

West Ham are lacking depth in central midfield so don’t be surprised if an approach is made on our behalf.
