Havard Nordtveit has endured a turbulent first season at West Ham to say the least.
After signing on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach, much was expected of the former Arsenal youngster to add some steel to the Hammers’ midfield.
Unfortunately for Nordtveit, early in the season he struggled to get into the team and was forced to play makeshift roles at both centre-back and right-back where he really failed to impress.
He made 21 appearances this past season and has left a lot of fans debating whether he’s good enough to nail down a regular role in the side going forward – but that debate could be coming to a swift conclusion.

According to German source Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg are all interested in bringing Nordtveit back to the Bundesliga after one year away.
West Ham signed the 26-year-old to a five-year contract running until 2021 but it’s believed that his positional versatility is what makes him such an attractive signing.
Hoffenheim enjoyed a great season, securing a fourth-placed finish and a place in next season’s Champions League qualification stages. With both Niklas Sule and Sebastien Rudy leaving this summer, Nordtveit would offer relief at both positions if need be.
Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg both struggled and finished in the bottom half but are massive clubs in the Bundesliga and would still have hefty pulling power.
If West Ham decide to sell Nordtveit then expect them to make a move in the transfer market for another central midfielder.
