West Ham and Swansea City have missed out on the chance to sign RB Leipzig’s Davie Selke this summer.
Wales Online reports that the striker has joined Hertha Berlin after failing to break into the RB Leipzig side during their first season in the German top flight.
The German U21 international had played a prominent role for Leipzig during their promotion from 2. Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals during the campaign that saw them rise to the top flight.
Following the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga, he had struggled to dislodge the young Timo Werner as Leipzig’s main attacking threat.
With just four league goals to his name this campaign and game time limited, he had been linked with a move away throughout the season.
Swansea were linked with a January move for the player, but he remained with Leipzig for the rest of the campaign.
Having finish sixth in the Bundesliga, Hertha Berlin will be playing Europa League football next season and that may well have swayed Selke’s decision.
