As they search for a few new strikers, West Ham were in talks with Barcelona to sign highly-rated forward Jordi Mboula.
The Spain U19 international impressed in the UEFA Youth League for Barcelona this season, netting eight goals in nine appearances and is pushing for a chance in the first-team.
With his release clause standing at just €3m, it wouldn’t take much to sign the talented young forward but the Hammers appear to have lost out in the race to secure his signature.
According to Spanish source Sport, Mboula is set to complete a transfer to Monaco this summer after they agreed to meet his release clause.
The Ligue 1 champions are willing to give the 18-year-old a chance in their first team after they sold Bernardo Silva to Manchester City earlier this month for £43m.
Mboula is expected to arrive in Monaco to complete a medical in the next few days and is excited at the prospect of playing some first-team football in one of Europe’s top leagues after being stifled of an opportunity at Barcelona.
