West Ham have been linked with umpteen strikers already this summer and the 2016/17 Premier League is only a week old – and this will continue to be the case until the Hammers manage to bring one or two in.
The latest striker supposedly on West Ham’s radar is Red Bull Leipzig’s Davie Selke, according to German news outlet Kicker.
Selke arrived at Leipzig in the summer of 2015 in a £6.8m deal from Werder Bremen and notched up 10 goals and three assists in 30 league appearances to help fire Leipzig into the Bundesliga.
Even though the relegation favourites defied the odds to secure a runners up finish to Bayern Munich and a spot in next season’s Champions League, Selke played a very limited role in the first-team.
The Germany U21 international, who has seven goals in 11 games at that level, made just 21 appearances this past season, only two of which were starts, and scored just four goals.
Leipzig are now said to be considering offloading the striker who scored two goals at last summer’s Olympics for Germany, and the Hammers are among those keen.
That being said, Everton and Swansea are also interested in a move for the 22-year-old, while former club Werder Bremen are said to be keen.
