Walsall in ongoing talks to re-sign George Dobson

After David Gold came out on Twitter and stated that it would be hard for the club’s talented young players to break into a first-team loaded with international footballers, questions are being asked about the futures of a number of U23 players at the club.

West Ham allowed a number of young players to leave on loan during this past season and one of those players was midfielder George Dobson.

A summer 2015 arrival from Arsenal, Dobson is yet to make his first-team debut for the Hammers and spent last season on loan with League One side Walsall where he impressed in his 26 appearances for the Saddlers.

With West Ham expected to send a number of young players out on loan again this summer, Walsall boss Jon Whitney says talks to re-sign George Dobson on loan are ongoing.

“I am still speaking to West Ham about George, I am still negotiating on that. But George is a player I like and I’m keen for him to come back.

“At this precise moment I’m really prioritising a couple of other positions, but George is still in the mix and I am still in contact with him.”

The likes of Domingos Quina and Reece Oxford are also set to leave the club on loan ahead of next season.
