West Ham decided not to replace Dimitri Payet in the January transfer window and pocketed the £25m generated by his sale for the summer transfer window.
Slaven Bilic must really attempt to replace the Frenchman in the summer to help build the squad back into a top six contender and he’s got his eyes on another creative midfielder from Ligue 1.
According to reports in France, the Hammers, along with Southampton and West Brom, are interested in signing Ryad Boudebouz from Montpellier.
Boudebouz is expected to seek a transfer away from Montpellier in the summer and would cost anywhere between €8-10m when the transfer window opens.
Having spent his entire career in French football with Sochaux, Bastia and now Montpellier, the 27-year-old is arguably enjoying his finest season in Ligue 1 to date, contributing 11 goals and eight assists in 31 league games so far this season.
Under contract until the end of the 2018/19 season, Boudebouz could become the second Algerian in the West Ham squad, following Sofiane Feghouli who arrived at the London Stadium last summer.
